Hello Challenger Families!
Challenger Opening Day 2023 is Sunday, February 26 at Pine Trails Park in Parkland. We are going to have all 12 of our teams at the same location this year. There will be ice cream and water for everyone, along with special guests. The concession stand will be open for additional purchases.
Teams have been assigned and uniforms ordered. New players should have already received emails telling them on which team they have been placed. You can also get this information by logging on to your account on our website,www.challengerbaseballofbroward.com.
Many of the teams will be receiving their uniforms when they arrive. You will be notified if you need to pick up the uniform elsewhere before opening day.
Since we have 12 teams and only 4 fields, not all the games can be played at the same time. Please note the staggered arrival times. We hope that as soon as your team is done with pictures, you can start your1 inning gameand then the kids can get ice cream after the game. This will also allow the 2nd round of games to be on schedule.
We will have photographers taking team pictures only (no individual pictures). It is imperative that everyone arrive promptly so players can get their uniforms and we can get the teams together for a team picture. If people are late it will delay things and you may miss your team picture.
Attached is our 2023 schedule with directions to our fields. Your coach’s phone number will be on the 2nd page of the schedule.
Please remember all this information will be posted on our website-www.challengerbaseballofbroward.com. Our website will also include updates all season, so please remember to check. You can also follow us on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/groups/60713191185.
There were 2 team changes this year. Weston has added a senior team, Rockhounds Seniors, in addition to the Rockhounds Juniors. The Rays and Indians have combined into one senior team called the G-Rays. Senior teams– note the travel directions for information on the Rockhounds Senior home field.
Challenger Day at the Marlins is Sunday, April 30. Details and signup information to follow. There will be no regular games that day.
The Challenger Year End picnicwill be at the Sunrise Civic Center on Sunday, May 21. Further details will follow.
Please remember that our season is short, so please try to make it to all of your games (both your home and away games). The games are much more fun for the kids when all their teammates are there. Also please note that many of the parks do not allow dogs and that you may be asked to leave if you bring your dog.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Opening Day!
